It was a day of many firsts.
The Pakalistas were excited to start sharing their experiences except none of them had the time (especially Berg) nor the ability (Shel and Fedge hands up) to physically make their presence felt in the Net without being a squatter in social networking sites.
So Shel asked Eyean:
Shel: Yan, ganahan ka moapil sa amung grupo magstart ug blog about restaurants sa Cebu?
Eyean: O Shel kay nahan ko food photography.
And so we ended up in Ambassador’s Cafe, which Eyean suggested. It was the first time Eyean got to meet Fedge and Berg. Julie, the leche flan of Eyean’s life, tagged along to make some suggestions on the food intake that night. She didn’t get to meet Berg though because he is always was late. She missed 1/10000th of her life, Berg missed 1/100000th of his.

Gravy Roast Pork (Eyean’s choice)
Shel: Murag lami mani Yan no?
Eyean gives a thumbs-up sign.
Shel: Notice that Fedge has no comment for this. Wa man gud siya katilaw kay naulaw nangayo ni Eyean haha. Bantay lang sunod Yan, makigtunga na si Fedge nimo
Fedge: Lami cya tanawn bitaw. Parang hindi nya napansin Shel nga kapila ko nagbalik2x ug nagdugay2x pag picture.
Shel: Subtle hinting doesn’t work on Eyean, brute force does. Di ba Yan?
Eyean nods head with matching smile.

Fish Fillet ‘n Salsa Pomodoro (Berg’s choice)
Berg actually forgot the name of what he ordered, but I distinctly remember him raving about his choice. He didn’t share it though so we really have no way of knowing if he was just too hungry or the fish really was tasty.

Wiener Schnitzel (Julie’s choice)
Fedge: I’m a big breaded pork chop lover. I can prepare and cook them to perfection (according to my standards, that is). I want my breaded pork to be crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and served with mushroom gravy. Unfortunately, this Wiener Schnitzel had none of those characteristics so it was quite a let down.
Shel: This was okay for me and Julie. The salad on the side is quite good especially since the sauce is passion fruit juice according to the waitress. But then again I have no idea how passion fruit tastes like so no complaints for me hehe. The salad really tastes good.

Pork Tenderloin with Mushrooms (Fedge’s choice)
Fedge: I was a bit disappointed with my order. I was expecting it to have a special sauce with plenty of mushrooms. Instead I got a typical home-cooked pork strips that my mom used to prepare but not better. The taste was just too bland for me. A bit of salt and pepper would do the trick. As a consolation though, it goes nicely with mashed potato.
Shel: Arte lang gyud siguro ka ‘pre. Okay ra man ni nako, not earth-shaking but okay ra. Hinuon gamititing man lang imo gipatilaw nako.
Fedge: Lisod man sad gud ug daghanon Shel, you have a different concept of of “bite-size” raba!

Mango Bangus Salad (Fedge and Shel’s appetizer)
Fedge: I couldn’t believe that the Star of the Night would come from the salad category. I just love the synergy of the fresh mangoes, the fried bangus/boneless milkfish which tasted like pork, the fresh lettuce, and the vinaigrette. It’s sweet, it’s sour, it’s simply appetizing! This comes highly recommended.
Shel: Very unique salad, and the sauce is passion fruit. Must try! In the event that the photo above can’t make you see the bangus clearly, check out photo below.

And if you still can’t recognize the fried bangus, oh well, you really need to visit the restaurant

Beef Stew in Noodles (Shel’s choice)
Shel: I had no regrets with my choice. It was something filling and tasty. I didn’t exactly forget my name when I tasted it, but I would recommend it to anybody who likes beef.
Fedge: I like that it is stewed just right for me. But as to flavor, it was just so-so for me, nothing special.

Pineapple Surprise (Shel’s drink)
The other drinks were typical, and the mango shake Fedge had was something not worth blogging about. So for the drinks section, it would be only the Pineapple Surprise. Was it surprising? It would have been if the waitress did not tell Shel what’s in it. But still, this mixed drink has a twist.

very good blog site. i am glad that i found it (via flickr pics, coz i also love to make pics of all my food…)
i will link ur page to my homepage, coz restaurant-checksites of cebu are rare….
btw, the serving of the wiener schnitzel is correct - it just comes with lemon and rice, and in this case with kalamansi, which should be spreaded over the schnitzel like u would do over fish. a mushroom sauce is a ‘no-go’, at least in the motherland of wiener schnitzel, austria.
i am looking forward to further reports.
