Chimichanga as served at Mooon Cafe (The Walk, I.T. Park)
A chimichanga is a deep-fried burrito filled with ground beef. As you can see above, this popular Tex-Mex cuisine is accompanied with some vegetable salad and lots of cheese.
Shel: In an episode of Ugly Betty in season 1, Marc (the assistant of Vanessa Williams’ character named Wilhemina Slater) told Betty, ”Oh, and just so you know, you’ll always be my little chimichanga, but doesn’t mean I like you.” That episode made me wonder about what a chimichanga is, and I’m glad I did. Chimichangga is yum-may! If you want to try Mexican food beyond the usual tacos and nachos, the chimichanga is a safe, not to mention a delicious, choice.
Fedge: This is so far the best chimichanga I have tasted. It is way better than in that other restaurant in I.T. Park that also serves Mexican food. I love the fact that I can really taste the beef **meatlover alert**, and it is topped with a generous amount of cheese. This is highly recommended.

Pasta Ala Mooon - spaghetti with peanuts, shrimp, and a slice of baguette
Shel: This pasta is one of a kind and quite possibly already adjusted to suit the Filipinos’ fondness for sweet sauces. This is like the Powerpuff Girls - sugar, spice, and everything nice! This is something I would highly recommend.

Pizza Jalapeño Diablo - ground beef, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, and of course jalapeño and lots of mozzarella cheese
Shel: It’s a good thing that it has lots of cheese. My friends and I chose this one because we like spicy stuff, and we were prepared to drink lots of water after a bite or two. We hardly noticed the jalapeño, and much water was conserved for that day. This was one Diablo that didn’t do much damage.

Quesadilla Vera Cruz - quesadilla with shrimp and of course lots of cheese and some salsa
Shel: I like the shrimp-cheese combination although it looked and tasted like it needed more time in wherever they heat this stuff, perhaps the cook was too busy that day or the food was supposed to be that way. The tortilla wasn’t exactly uncooked, just that it needed more heating to make the cheese melt so the whole thing won’t fall apart when you try to take a bite but end up spooning contents into your mouth.
Trivia: There is also another kind of quesadilla in South America - a sweet dessert. A quesadilla in El Salvador, Guatemala, and in some southern Mexican states, is a dense bread usually eaten with coffee. It is made of flour or pancake mix, milk, eggs, butter, sour cream, sugar, and Parmesan cheese. Cebu needs to have this kind of quesadilla!

Ensalda Mexicano - nachos, fresh cucumber and lettuce, some mayo, tomatoes, onions, and a sour sauce courtesy of the orange slices that are not really visible in the photo
Shel: This is a unique salad. I wasn’t jumping up and down for this one, but I didn’t regret ordering it either. In Mooon Cafe’s menu and receipt, this salad was called Ensalda Mexicano. Perhaps this should be ensalada - the Spanish translation of the word salad.

Another kind of Tortilla
Fedge: This “little cheesy thing” wrapped in tortilla is delicious! But I must say that I was bit underwhelmed by the presentation because it appears that you ordered just half of it.

Nachos with 3 dips
Fedge: I have always been a nacho lover - from the classic, and one-of-my-all-time-favorite junk Mr. Chips to the thinner and crispier Tostillas and Doritos. Mooon Cafe’s nachos come with three kinds of dip. I got really confused after I had my first bite. It was not the same nacho that I used to love and adore. I feel like I’m in a paradigm shift. It was a bit overcooked for my taste. Good thing there was a sour cream dip to make me feel better.

Pakalistas’ Unanimous Vote: Mooon Cafe at The Walk has enough good eats to sought it out in a place teeming with food. Pakalista Berg, however, says to try the original branch in Guadalupe because that restaurant offers tastier food than its sibling at The Walk.
Let’s all find out, shall we?
