Sunday morning….
The frustrated-wannabe-photographer Pakalistas were out early for a weekend photo-op. After sweating it out in the early morning sun, it’s time for breakfast.
When it’s chow time, it’s CHOWABUNGGA time!
Chowabungga: Pamachow (Breakfast Meals – Filipino Food)
Danggitsillete - served with sinangag gift-wrapped in a 2-egg omellete
Danggit or salted siganid fish is considered as Cebu’s pride and a famous Cebu delicacy. Silette from the words sinangag or fried rice and omellete.
Chowabungga’s crispy danggit is a Pakalista favorite Filipino food! We all loved it!
Chowabungga: The Middle Kingdom (Chinese Food)
Fish Fillet with Tausi
Fish in fermented black beans is a classic pinoy favorite Chinese-style cooking. Chowabunngga’s thick and rich tausi sauce complemented well with the fish.
Chowabungga’s Fish Fillet with Tausi satisfied the Pakalistas’ tastebuds.
Chowabungga: Land of the Rising Sun (Japanese Food)
Katsudon - breaded pork cutlet smothered with an egg poached in a Japanese broth served with rice.
I don’t know what a Katsudon is but Chowabungga’s description of it (keyword: smothered with egg) enticed me to order.
Gosh! I feel like I was Anton Ego of Ratatouille. I was amazed by Chowabungga’s Katsudon, and it reminded me of how much I like breaded porkchop.
Although I felt that the sauce was not enough for me, Chowabungga’s Katsudon still comes highly recommended!
Pakalistas Verdict
This Cebu restaurant has quite an interesting selection from Filipino food, Japanese food, Chinese food, Indian food, American food, Mexican food, to Korean food.
Chowabungga! restaurant in Cebu impressed the Pakalistas from presentation, taste, serving size, and price.
Chowabungga’s food may be a “Filipinized” version of popular foreign cuisines but this Cebu restaurant offers a taste of international cooking at budget-friendly prices.
So once again, “When it’s CHOW time, it’s CHOWABUNGGA time!”
Chowabungga is located at Asiatown I.T. Park.

Nice photos Fedge. I’ve tried eating at Chowabungga at I.T. Park lots of times, but the food didn’t look that appetizing like in your photos. I have nothing to complain about the food though, great for its price. Lami jud ang mga -silette nila, tocilette ug katung chorizo na murag Tuding’s na brand hehe. I’ve tried Korean Beef Bowl, lami pud and their quesadillas.
