It was CLEARLY not a day for a sky experience adventure, but we braved the cold and the winds and were more than determined to have a good time. And we did.
The Edge Coaster is said to be the “world’s very first and only amusement ride of its kind.” When you ride the Edge Coaster, you are strapped onto a rail seat while it goes around the edge of the Crown Regency building, and you get a breathtaking view of the city.
It’s a slow ride around the perimeter of the building, and you and your partner can playfully scare each other by pulling on a lever and tilting your seats up to 55 degrees. And if you get scared shitless by the middle of the ride, well… there is ample time to say a prayer or two.

I live in the “highlands” of Cebu (read – near Marco Polo Hotel), and I have a great view of the city day in and day out. Seeing Cebu City at the 38th floor of Crown Regency Hotel’s Tower 1 (Osmeña Boulevard) is different though. I had no idea there are that many squatters and so many construction going on. Cebu City is booming indeed.

Before you get to take the ride, you are required to sign a waiver. Before I even got to that point, I was more than convinced to be the photographer of the day. No rides for me unless I’m with Wentworth Miller. And as I tastelessly joked to my friends, there must be someone who can identify the bodies.
When you finish the ride, either exhilarated or paper white, you are given a certificate!

I was such a wuss that day, but I really had fun with my friends Carmel, Ols, Steve, and Charmaine. And yeah, I now realized I am never going to be a good photographer.
You can take an Edge Coaster ride between 8 am and 2 am. For prices and tickets, visit the Sky Experience Adventure’s Web site.
