Food Court Chronicles #1: Majestic Express (Robinson’s)

Food Review of Chinese Restaurant in Cebu Philippines: Majestic Express

I seldom see a food blog out there reviewing food establishments in a food court.

We at DiningCebu.com aim to promote ALL food and restaurants in Cebu.  Be it from a humble carenderia, a stall on the mall or on the street, a family-owned cafe, or posh places like restaurants in the Terraces Ayala Cebu and hotel-based Cebu restaurants.

So first up on our food court escapade is Majestic Express at Robinson’s Mall.

For Pakalista Jon, the obvious and only choice would be the Fish Fillet, and as for me the carnivorous Pakalista, I had the Sweet and Sour Pork.

Majestic Express: Fish Fillet - Php 89.00

This affordable Php 89.00 combo meal includes a sotanghon guisado, mushroom siomai, rice, and iced tea!  You just have to choose the main viand of either Fish Fillet, Sweet and Sour Pork, or Beef with Broccoli.

Majestic Express: Fish Fillet - Php 89.00

For Majestic Express‘ very affordable price, all I could say is NOT BAD!

The fish fillet was well prepared and was a typical Chinese-style fish cooking.  The sweet and sour pork I liked as well because it was pure meat and none of the disguised fat.

My experience before with food court food especially with the sweet and sour pork is that they disguise the fat with flour coating and the red sauce.  But Majestic Express had none of those which was very good.  You really get your money’s worth.

Since I am not a sotanghon fan, I would have preferred it if it was pancit or maybe there’s an option for a pancit or sotanghon.

The mushrooms siomai was delish as well.  Extra good for me because Jon can’t eat the siomai because it is pork so I had four siomais that day! Yey hahaha..

Majestic Express‘ combo meal is a real VALUE meal!

Man, I used to remember Majestic was “The” place to go for chinese food. But now, my gosh… they really fell hard. The food is completely different. The Chinese Elites used to flock that place, but ever since they’re original cook left that place just seems like a memory. I had they’re meals at SM recently with my folks. Not good - so not good. So far for really good chinese food - I’d go to Big Mao or Lai Garden (the one in Crossroads, SM’s branch is not that great since its a franchise)

Hi LS, thanks for dropping by our blog. I think there are some Majestic branches that still serve great food. The ones in food courts might be franchises as well. Another problem for Majestic would be too much competition. Personally, if I want some affordable Chinese food, I go to Red Moon near Gaisano Country Mall. I hope to go back there soon so I can blog about my faves.
