Calda Pizza’s Quattro Stagione is composed of 4 kinds of pizzas – Bolognese, Hawaiian, Etna, and Calda
Calda Pizza in Lahug seems to be the foremost competitor of Alberto’s Pizza when it comes to popularity nowadays. This pizza place near USP seemed to have come to life in the past few months. I’m a Lahug resident, and I’ve noticed this place a few months back but I was never interested to check it out until late last year. I know that it has been there, sitting quietly in front of a restaurant that has now closed. And I suppose the time has come for it to shine. It’s tough not to when you’re beside a convenience store and a car wash.
What makes Calda stand out from other Cebu pizza parlors is that it serves gigantic pizzas with pretty decent taste for relatively low prices. Calda’s pizzas come in 4 sizes: Regular – 10 inches across, Family – 15 inches, XL – 20 inches, and Super – 30 inches. They have XL pizzas for as low as Php 320 and Super pizzas for as low as Php 620. [Prices as of Feb. 2009]

Calda pizzas are perfect for groups. Last month, I had to feed the masses a group of people, so I opted to buy Calda Pizza’s Quattro Stagione because it has 4 kinds in it (which have similar ingredients but still an okay combination):
Bolognese ~ ground beef, mushrooms, onions, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce
Hawaiian ~ ham, pineapple slices, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce
Etna ~ ham, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce
Calda ~ ground beef, ham, salami, onions, bell pepper, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce
The photo above is the XL size, 20 inches across, and as wide as Calda’s table. So you won’t have to imagine how large the SUPER is, see photo below. It was slightly wider than our office pantry table. Calda is probably the only pizza place in Cebu right now that delivers very large pizzas.

I’ve been to Calda many times already. I’ve tried Calzone (close baked), Milanese (with chicken fillet and spice ham), Filipiniana (with ground beef and Chinese chorizo), and Frutti de Mare (with shrimps, squid, tuna, capers, and black olives) in various occasions. They all taste okay to me.
By the way, if you like to eat pizza in peace and without people smoking nearby, better have Calda deliver the pizza to your house. Calda in Lahug is quite informal. It doesn’t serve drinks either, you have to buy it in the convenience store beside it. It can be a good place to hang out with friends, but not exactly ideal for families with young children because it usually has lots of young people drinking beer and smoking (I’m more concerned of the second-hand smoke and not passing moral judgment here). There are limited times during the day that you can find Calda with few patrons, usually when it’s very hot or it’s raining (Calda please provide a roof soon!).
As for deliveries, if you order during peak hours, it can take more than 2 hours for your pizza to arrive. I ordered a Super between 3:00 to 4:00 pm in the Lahug branch last month, and the pizzas arrived beyond 6 pm in our office at I.T. Park. So be sure to ask whoever is taking your order if you have to wait for 48 years for your pizza.

For Lahug Branch deliveries call 516-4665 or 2330167, and for Talamban branch deliveries call 513-0933.
Both branches are open from 10:00 am until 1:00 am from Sunday to Thursday and until 3:00 am during Friday and Saturday.
I’m not really sure where exactly in Talamban Calda Pizza is located, but a friend mentioned that it is around the USC area. Better call first if you want to visit the Talamban branch.
