Mother’s Day is fast approaching, and if you still don’t know what to get for your mom, we have a suggestion for you – Mango Mousse Cake from Kusina Habana!

Perfect.  Kusina Habana’s Mango Mousse Cake is just perfect.

The moment I set my eyes on this cake, I knew I was in for a treat! The cake had alternating layers of mango mousse and yellow sponge cake (mango flavored? I couldn’t tell). On top of the cake was a thin sheet of gelatin where slices of sweet succulent mango were prettily arranged in a flower pattern. My oh my. It smelled wonderful too. (Sorry! I have this bad habit of smelling food. If it smells good, then it probably tastes good too, eh?  Arf! Arf!)

Okay, now on to the taste test.

The sponge cake was moist and light. The mousse had just the right firmness and texture. And the mangoes, sweet but slighty tangy to counter the richness of the mousse and sweetness of the cake. And oh, I almost forgot, there are cute little whipped cream stars piped around the edges of the cake to make it all pretty and nice.

And the verdict? Two thumbs up!

The marriage of all these flavors resulted into a delightful, addictive, and delicious creation! I helped myself to another slice. And another one. And one more. And… get the picture?

By the way, the cake slices beautifully, as in not a crumb out of place. Amazing.

My mom bakes a lot, and she has very discriminating tastebuds when it comes to cakes. When I asked her to take a bite of it, she told me to order one for her wedding anniversary on the 16th. Yes! It’s that good! (One Mango Mousse Cake from Kusina Habana coming up, mom!) Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to make a quick trip to the ref and help myself to just one itsy bitsy slice of mango mousse… for closure.
