Blue Lights and Delish Food at Tara’s Cafe (I.T. Park)

Cebu Restaurants Blue Lights and Delish Food at Taras Cafe (I.T. Park)I’ve never been to Tara’s Cafe in Banawa, but I’ve heard good things about the restaurant’s food (from Fedge). It was Berg who told me initially that a branch will open at the I.T. Park soon. And sure enough, weeks after that talk, this Cebu restaurant did open at the building across Bo’s Coffee.

The first thing I noticed was the restaurant’s blue lights. It’s tough to be the new kid in the neighborhood so you have to resort to lighting, I suppose, just to get noticed in a place brimming with restaurants.

I was supposed to check out the food with my office mates on Earth Day but something happened. Long story short, I went there with another set of friends. And yes, we made the right choice that rainy evening.

We ate a lot that night. FYI, there were 8 of us. I won’t be able to review all the food because (a) I can’t remember them, and (b) I didn’t get to taste them. The first 5 or so are the ones I really like, and the ones at the bottom are those I couldn’t remember.

Roast Beef PhP 199

This was my friend Rosemay’s choice. I had a bite or two, okay fine more than three, and I liked it. We all did, as far as I can remember. The potato was a great side dish, and the gravy was really tasty. The roast beef was also tender. Yep, I would recommend this dish!

Beef with Broccoli PhP 210

My friend Mai chose this one, and we all loved it too. I do like beef more than I like pork so I’m probably biased. I also like broccoli. Hmmm, I am really biased. The beef was tender, the vegetables were cooked just right and still crunchy, the sauce was delish… this comes highly recommended!

Lettuce Wraps Php 90

I chose this one, and everyone that night loved this dish. I liked it, but it’s not as good as the minced pork served in Majestic.

BG’s Bicol Express Php 140

Anybody following our blog would know that I like spicy food, and yes this was my choice too. The best Bicol Express I’ve ever tasted was the one served at Pino’s. I also like the one served in Chika-an, and this one at Tara’s tasted good too. It was not too spicy for me.

Hearty Soup Php 80

This is a creamy, tomato soup with pieces of nachos in it. It tasted OK for me, and it was a great choice that  chilly evening. This one truly deserved its name.

Potato Crab Salad Php 120

I like potatoes and crab, and I expected to get boiled crab meat. As you can see I didn’t get the type of crab meat I wanted. Nevertheless, the flavors in this salad were OK, nothing extraordinary though.

Lemon Grass Squid Php 180

This was my friend Jill’s choice. I had a bite of it,  and it was okay for me, nothing to rave about though.

I can’t remember the taste of the following….

Shrimp Chorizo Pasta Php 135

I had a good time at Tara’s Cafe (I.T. Park). Service was good that night; the waiters were accommodating. Julie and Eyean have been there on a separate occasion, and they said the same thing about the service. Julie noted though that the servers were fine, but the kitchen folks seemed to be a tad slow the day they were there for lunch. Guess I have to go back and take some notes!

why are most of the pics blurred?
its not enticing as i thought it would be..:)

  2. Shel Says:

Hi Lucille, thanks for pointing that out hehe. I’d like to believe it’s because my camera isn’t as “powerful” as those of Fedge’s or Eyean’s but Eyean used the same uyamut na camera in the Handuraw Lahug post and the pics look good. Therefore, the real reason why the pics are blurred are: (a) I have absolutely poor photography skills, (b) equally poor Photoshop skills, and (c) I was too hungry to care if the photos were OK. :-)

I agree Shel great service.. from the time we arrived until we left the waiters were attentive to our needs. I like the food.. the price is ok and the serving size was just right. In fact i had trouble finishing the roast beef i ordered.
