My Love for an Ice Castle Halo-Halo Has Melted

Super Halohalo

Ice Castle Super Halo-halo Php 86.00

My favorite halo-halo of all time BEFORE was Ice Castle’s Super Halo-halo.  But not anymore.

Two of my friends (guess who!) hate are not much into the whole Ice Castle craze (Craze, Craze, to the Ice Craze – Aw Jollibee mana noh?) because they find it somewhat cheap, only for the “masses”, and the place is not cozy and relaxing enough to enjoy a good dessert.  They meant it as a joke of course (joke!).  But I defended the place so much only to be dismayed but what happened later.

Everything was really off that day.  Ice Castle in Ayala was full, and we almost didn’t have a seat.  When we entered the place, it smelled somewhat funny.  I was even in denial that there’s that funny smell because I just want to have my halo-halo fix there, no matter what!

Hawaiian Split

So I ordered, of course, the halo-halo, and Jon had the Hawaiian Split.  Actually I’m not 100% sure if that’s the name.  But mao na akong na remember nga name sa iyang gi-order.  If you look at it though, it makes sense why it’s named as such.

Anyway, so when our orders arrived, I immediately took a picture of Ice Castle’s Hawaiian Split.  Of course, I didn’t just take one shot.  I took a number of them, moved things around, tried different angles, and all routine stuff that I usually do when taking food photos.

I finished taking a picture of the Hawaiian Split and moved on to my halo-halo.  I was so eager and excited to have a picture of my halo-halo because this is what I came there for!  Have a halo-halo and blog about how much I really really LOVE(D) it!

But when I was just about to press the shutter, the waitress told me to stop taking pictures because it is not allowed.  OMG!  Pwede ba mo uli nalang ko? Hehehe.  But I remained SURPRISINGLY (seriously surprising) calm and just obliged.  Or not!

I acted as if I was just scanning the photos I’ve taken but was already taking a picture of my halo-halo.  I can’t just leave without a picture of the halo-halo I’ve paid for!

So Ice Castle’s Super Halo-halo was not picture perfect because kawat-kawat na cya pagka-picture!  Hahay, I just don’t understand why some establishments do not allow pictures of their food to be taken.  Can somebody tell me why?  Aint nothing but a mistake.

Shel: Hadluk cguro sundugon ilang halo-halo sa Chowking? hehe. I understand that some restaurants fear that their competitors would figure out something from their presentation, and that is their prerogative and one we should respect. They, however, should consider that their rivals can never really copy the taste from photos alone. A lot of decent restaurants don’t mind having their food photos plastered all over the Net because it is free promotion. Funny, wa man gani ka gibadlung sa Marco Polo hehe.

fedge, is this the reason y u didn’t like the SHH? how was the taste diay, was it still the same?

is this the genesis of the ice castle revolution? if so, where do you suggest we should satiate our cravings for HH?
